Growth of Digital Payments in India After UPI Since UPI was launched in 2016, digital payments in India have grown at a remarkable pace. The number of transactions increased from around 2 crores in FY 2016–17 to more than 24,162 crores in FY 2025–26. Today, UPI handles nearly 85% of the country's digital payment volume and has helped India become a leading nation in real-time digital transactions.
